In addition to the e-Visa, travellers wishing to visit so-called "protected" or "restricted" areas must obtain additional permits, provided only by the local authorities. These areas are found, in whole or in part, in the Andaman & Nicobar Islands, Arunachal Pradesh, Himachal Pradesh, Kashmir, Lakshadweep Islands, Manipur, Mizoram, Nagaland, Rajasthan, Sikkim or Uttaranchal.
